An Owl

An owl sings by my window at night
it hoots the song of the dead
and leads a chorus of birds

I imagine they must chirp
the lyrics of the dying night
by the twinkle of stars
whose sparks light
the night

And as the owl hoots
the night grows darker
and his hooting louder
and  the birds that chirp
override the song of death
towards the midst  of Eos
as she holds her candle in the east
the owl concedes to lower his hooting

As Eos brings the winds of life back to the world
of the living
Helios rises and takes Eos place
and the owl that must have been singing dies
and Helios lives

But I know that owl will resurrect
with Selena and the moon
and sing his tune of death
by the night sky by my window
